Next Phase of Sustainable Finance

2022 was a challenging year for the themes of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and Sustainability, and optimism generated during the previous two years has been knocked back. However, sufficient progress has been made on this topic in recent years to keep momentum, and focus remains high.

In order to help understand where ESG now sits, we consider three key areas: Firstly Conference of the Parties 27 (COP27), and the broader political dynamics under war and the related energy crisis. Secondly we look at the messaging and growing nerves in relation to Net Zero commitments. Lastly we take a look at the developing global landscape for ESG regulations and accounting requirements.
